#4: The Academic Building

This is one of my favorite buildings architecturally. What makes the Academic Building stand out is the large copper dome on top. It's really neat to see and always a good spot to meet up with people! In fact, we stand out here in this plaza to observe Silver Taps (a memorial to honor our fallen Aggies). This used to be the front of campus, but now it's pretty central. Since it was one of the original buildings, you won't see another one quite like it around!

#3: The weather

Although this is more of a love/hate relationship, sometimes the strange and quickly changing weather brings good things. I saw real snowfall last Tuesday! I made a real snowman! I can't even remember the last time I did both. The funniest part about this, we didn't even think it would happen. The Sunday before, it was 75 degrees :)

#2: The squirrels

Squirrels on any college campus are bound to be friendly, but at A&M, our tradition of overwhelming friendliness carries over into the wildlife too. While I was taking pictures of a dogwood tree, this little guy was staring me down. He posed for several picture without looking the slightest bit bothered, so I rewarded his efforts with a tasty acorn.

#1: The Century Tree

I chose this to be my first picture in this series because it is one of my first memories of A&M and by far my favorite tradition. This tree is well over 100 years old now and beautifully sweeps down for quite a sight. The tradition behind says that if any couple walks underneath it, they will be happy and together forever. But if someone walks under it alone, they will be alone forever. This being said, you can see students avoiding the path under the branches on their way to class!

What I love about Aggieland

I don't need to prove to anyone that Aggieland is the greatest place on Earth. That's just basic knowledge. Still I would like to share what makes this place so special to me! I'm a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2013, AAAAAAAAAA, and I feel so lucky that I get to spend the next three years of my life here. So this is my goal: take a picture everyday that shows what I love about this wonderful place. If you are not familiar with Texas A&M, hopefully I can shed some light on this school and community. If you are a fellow Aggie, simply enjoy the pictures, perhaps help me pick some spots worth mentioning, and gig 'em!
